 {x}^{2}  + 5x  + k  \\  comparing \: the \: equation \: with \:  {ax}^{2}  + bx + c \\ a = 1 \\ b = 5 \\ c = k \\  \alpha  +  \beta  =  \frac{ - b}{a}  \\  =  >  \alpha  +  \beta  =   \frac{ - (5)}{1} \\  =  >  - 5 \\  \alpha  \beta  =  \frac{c}{a}  \\  =  >  \frac{k}{1}  \\  =  > k
