If α and β are the zeroes of the polynomials P(x) = x2 + 5x +6, then find the α + β

Answer:

x2+5x+6=0

x2+2x+3x+6=0

x(x+2)+3(x+3)=0

(x+2)(x+3)=0

x=−2,−3

∴α=−2,β=−3

α+β=−ab

−2−3=−15

−5=−5

αβ=ac

(−2)(−3)=16

6=6
