Answer:

Given, X= -2

_____________________

p(x) = x {}^{2}  - 6x + a \\ 0 = ( - 2) {}^{2}  - 6( - 2) + a \\ 0 = 4 + 12 + a \\ a = 16

Hence, the value of a is 16.

Answer:

Letp(x )= x^2-6x+a

x=-2

Putting the value of x in above equation we get

P(x)= (-2)×(-2)+(-6)(-2)+(a)

=4+12+a

=a+16

Since it given that it is the zero of the given polynomial

Therefore ,

P(x)=0

》a+16=0

》a=-16

Hence shown
