let me tell you a different approach to solve this

a and b are the roots

sum of roots=-3√3/2

so ,they satisfy the equation

2x²+3√3x-6=0

putting a and b in the equation

2a²+3√3a-6=0...................... equation 1

2b²+3√3b-6=0........................ equation 2

adding equation 1 and equation 2

2(a²+b²)+3√3(a+b)-12=0

putting a+b=-3√3/2

2(a²+b²)+3√3(-3√3/2)-12=0

2(a²+b²)-27/2-12=0

2(a²+b²)=51/2

(a²+b²)=51/4

this may look a little lengthy than the conventional method but sometimes this method makes a question super easy
