Let angle A be x

A.T.Q

A+B=180°[Supplementary angles]

x+x+20°=180°

2x=180°-20°

2x=160°

x=160°/2

x=80°

Hence,the measure of angle A =80°

(160 - X)°

Given:

A and B are supplementary angles.

B = (X + 20)°

To Find:

The measure of angle A

Solution:

Since, ∠A &  ∠B are the supplementary angles.

∠A + ∠B = 180

=) ∠A + x + 20 = 180

=) ∠A + x + 20 – 20 = 180 – 20  (Subtracting 20 from the both sides)

=) ∠A + x = 160

=) ∠A + x – x = 160 – x ….(Subtracting x from the both sides)

=) ∠A = (160 – x)°

Therefore, the measure of ∠A is  (160 – x)°.
