Step-by-step explanation:

This sum we can do it by using proportionality

when the two triangles are similar the corresponding sides are in the same ratio.

Answer & step by step explanation:

∆AOB and ∆XOY are similar to each other

So as the rule [Similar arms of duplicate triangle will be proportional to each other.]

OB=15cm,AB=4.5 and XY=18.9

As the rule,

OB/AB=OY/XY

or,

 \frac{15}{4.5}  =  \frac{15 + by}{18.9}  \\

or,10/3=15+BY/189×10[ OY= OB+BY]

or,1=15+BY/63(10 common from both side and 189/3=63)

or,15+BY=63

or,BY=63-15

Finally,BY=48

Then the length of BY is 48.
