2y + 5 = 0 , y + 1 = 0

2y = -5 , y = -1

y = -5/2 , y = -1

• Let α = -5/2
• Let β = -1

• α + β + αβ

= (-5/2) + (-1) + (-5/2)-1)

= -5/2 -1 + 5/2

= -1

• α + β + αβ = -1
