We know that

Area of the square = (side)²

Now, factorising the given expression,

  = {4x}^{2}  + 12xy  + {9y}^{2}  \\ \\  =  {(2x)}^{2}   + 2  \times 2 \times 3y + (3y)^{2}  \\  \\  = (2x + 3y)^{2}

Hence, the side of the square = (2x+3y)
