Concept

The square root of a number is defined as the value, which gives the number when it is multiplied by itself. The radical symbol √ is used to indicate the square root. For example, √9 = 3, √25 = 5 . The radical symbol is also called a root symbol.

Given

1) b > 0

2) b² = a

Find

The value of √a

Solution

If b>0

b² = a

We know that (√a)² = a

So

b² = (√a )²

Square rooting both sides

b = √a

If b > 0 and b² = a, the value of root a is b.
