Given

A = a

B = a

Acc. To Problem

 =  > R =  \sqrt{ {a}^{2} +  {a}^{2} + 2 \times a \times a \: cos \theta }

 =  > R =  \sqrt{2 {a}^{2} + 2 {a}^{2} \: cos \theta  } \\  =  > R =  \sqrt{2 {a}^{2} + 2 {a}^{2} \times  \frac{ - 1}{2}}

On Cancelling 2 with 2

 =  > R =  \sqrt{2 {a}^{2} -  {a}^{2}  } \\  =  > {R}^{2} =  {a}^{2} \\  =  > R = a \\ =  >   \boxed {\frac{R}{a} = 1}
