SOLUTION

TO FILL IN THE BLANK

If base radius of a cylinder is doubled then the volume of new cylinder = ______ times the volume of given cylinder

EVALUATION

Let base radius of the given cylinder = r unit and height = h unit

Then volume of the given cylinder

= v

 =  \sf{\pi {r}^{2}h }

Now base radius of a cylinder is doubled

So new radius = R = 2r unit

So the volume of the new cylinder

= V

 \sf{ = \pi {(R)}^{2}h }

 \sf{ = \pi {(2r)}^{2}h }

 \sf{ =4 \times  \pi {r}^{2}h }

 \sf{ = 4 \times v}

∴ V = 4v

Hence the new volume is 4 times the volume of given cylinder

FINAL ANSWER

If base radius of a cylinder is doubled then the volume of new cylinder = Four times the volume of given cylinder
