if x+1 is a factor of given equation then x+1=0 will satisfy the equatio so x=-1 will satisfy the equation So from remainder theoram

-a+1+2+b=0

and also x-1=0

x=1 will satisfy the equation

a+1-2+b=0


solving above equation

we get b =-1 and a=2
