If bromine is available in the form of say two isotopes 79/35 Br (49.7%) and 81/35 Br (50.3%) calculate the average atomic mass of bromine atom
Answer :
(i) The mass of 79/35 Br isotope is 79u and35 its abundance is 49.7%
, (ii) The mass of 81/35Br isotope is 81u and its abundance is 50.3%
79 × 49.7/100 + 81 × 50.3/100
3926.3 + 40743 = 80.006 = 80u

Answer:

Ans. The average atomic mass of bromine (79x 49.7) + (81x 50.3) / 100

= 3926.3 + 4074.3 / 100

= 8000.6 / 100 = 80 u
