If bus travelling at 20m/s is subject to steady deceleration of 5m/s, how long will it take to came to rest ?

•Initial velocity(u)=20m/s

•Deceleration=5m/s²

=>Thus,acceleration(a)= -5m/s²

•Final velocity(v)=0 (as finally the bus'll come to rest)

To find:-

•Time taken by the bus to come to rest(t)

Solution:-

By,using the 1st equation of motion,we get-------

=>v=u+at

=>0=20+(-5)t

=>0-20= -5t

=>-20=-5t

=>t= -20/-5

=>t=4s

Thus,the bus will take a time of 4 seconds to come to rest.
