If carbon does not show catenation, what happens

if the carbon does not show the catenation it would not be stable and it cannot share the atoms

catenation is the linkage of atoms of the same element into longer chains and this is higher in carbon and if carbon does not show catenation then the linkage of atoms of same elements will not happen.
