No, it is not true at all that caste system is the basis of equality and inequality and if it gets abolished the inequality will also be abolished from the society.
The inequality which persist in the society is not only on the basis of the caste work on various other basis like on the basis of gender on the basis of the economic strategy and on the basis of your position and the power you hold. So, it will be very wrong to say that abolition of caste system will also lead to abolition of inequality in the society
We can see inequality on the basis of gender where boys are treated different from the way that a girl is treated. A boy in a society enjoys much more rights and privileges as compared to a girl therefore this shows the inequality on basis of gender.
Inequality can also be portrayed in the form of of the money you earn for the monthly income you have. No matter if you abolish the caste system but you cannot ever abolish the difference between a fruit seller and a business tycoon.
