Dominant gene

Explanation:

  • For anyone characteristic, multiple traits are possible. For example, height is a characteristic and it has two possible traits i.e. tall and short.
  • Pair of genes that code for the same characteristics are known as alleles.
  • They can either be present in Homozygous format (TT, tt) or heterozygous format (Tt, tT).
  • The allele whose trait is displayed even in the heterozygous condition is called as dominant allele and the one whose trait is not displayed is known as a recessive allele.
  • Only the tall trait of the T allele is expressed by the genotype Tt in the F1 generation. Therefore we can say that 'T' is dominant and 't' is recessive allele in the genotype  Tt of F1 generation.
