Possible combinations are as follows:

3 cookies ($3) + 7 oranges ($5.25) = $8.25

6 cookies ($6) + 3 oranges ($2.25) = $8.25

To make total 8.25 we need to take number of oranges in such a way that they always make .25 in total. Only then we can get 8.25 as total because cookies will always give integers.

So, taking one orange will give .75 cents ===>not possible

2 oranges = $1.5 == > not possible

3 oranges = $2.25 ==> POSSIBLE

4 oranges = $3 ==> not possible

And so on..
