Just take it simple.
Consider a right-triangle ABC
Given: cosA=4/5
=BASE/HYPOTANEOUS =4/5
By Pythagoras theorem:
Triangle will be
BASE=4 PERPENDICULAR=3 HYPOTANEOUS=5
Now tanA = PERPENDICULAR/VASE
tanA=3/4
Hope it helps!

sarthaksports2: Now you can calculate tan(A/2) by:
sarthaksports2: Tan(A) = 2Tan(A/2)/Tan²(A/2)
