I just learned how to do this a few days ago so I might still have some mistakes:

First, we need to draw a right triangle.

We set up a random angle(not the right angle) to be A.

cos is CAH, or Adj/Hyp. We can infer that adj is 1 and hyp is 3 (attachment not drawn to scale).

Then we find angle A, which is

cos(1/3)^-1=? or acos(1/3)

?=70.528779366 or 70.53

Next, we solve it!

sec is basically the reciprocal of cos, which means it is Hyp/Adj or 3/1.

=3(3/1)^2(70.53)+8

=3*2^141+8

=8.36277944 *10^42
