if cos a = 4/5

cosa = adjacent/hypotenuse

by Pythagoras theorem

opposite side can be found

(5)^2= (4)^2+ (opposite side)^2

25=16+(opposite side)^2

(opposite side)^2=9

opposite side=3

tana=opposite side/adjacent side

tana=3/4
