Correct Question :-

• If cot θ = 3/4, then find the value of

tan θ.

Answer :-

• Tan θ = 4/3

Step-by-step explanation :-

• We have a ∆ ABC, right-angled at B.

[Refer the attachment for the same!]

Now, we know that,

Cot θ = Adjacent/Opposite

⇒Cot A = AB/BC

⇒Cot A = 3/4

∴ If AB = 3k, then BC = 4k, where k is a positive number.

Now, bringing in the Pythagoras Theorem, we get,

AC² = AB² + BC²

⇒AC² = (4k)² + (3k²)

⇒AC² = 25k²

AC = 5k

Also,

We know that,

Tan A = 1/Cot A

⇒Tan θ = 4/3

Additional Information :-

• Other trigonometric ratios of angle A are as follows :-

→ Sin A = BC/AC = 4/5

→ Cos A = AB/AC = 3/5

→ Cosec A = 1/Sin A = 5/4 and

→ Sec A = 1/Cos A = 5/3
