cot x = 1/2    so tan x = 2

sec y = -5/2  so tan² y = 25/4 - 1  = 21/4
tan y = -√21 / 2        negative as y is in 2nd quadrant.

tan (x+y) = [tan x + tan y] / [1 - tan x  tan y ]
         = [2 - √21/2 ] / [ 1 + √21 ]
         = [ 4 - √21 ] / [2 (1+√21) ]
