Given:

✰ C.P. of 10 articles is equal to S.P. of 11 articles.

To find:

✠ The loss%.

Solution:

Let's understand the concept first. First we will assume the C.P. of one article as x, then we know that the C.P. of 10 articles will be 10 × x = 10x. We know that the C.P. of 10 article is equal to S.P. of 12 articles. Using this, we will find out SP in terms of x. After that we will compare the both of them and then find the loss%.

Let's find out...✧

Let the C.P. of 1 article be x

then, the C.P of 10 articles is 10x

C.P. of 10 articles = S.P. of 11 articles = 10x

The S.P. of 11 articles = 10x

⇾ S.P. of 1 article = 10x/11

As, C.P. > S.P., Hence it is loss.

N.B: Whenever the CP is greater than SP, then it is considered as loss. Formula to calculate loss = C.P. - S.P.

➛ Lose = C.P. - S.P.

➛ Lose = x - 10x/11

➛ Lose = (11x - 10x)/11

➛ Lose = x/11

Now,

➛ Loss% = Loss/C.P. × 100%

➛ Loss% = x/11/x × 100%

➛ Loss% = x/11 × 1/x × 100%

➛ Loss% = 1/11 × 100%

➛ Loss% = 9.09%

The loss% = 9.09%
