Given:

Diagonal of Square = 13 cm

For a square , each of whose side is 'a' .

Diagonal of Square = √2 a

13 = √ 2 a

a= 13 /√2

a= (13× √2/ √2 × √2)

[ By rationalising the denominator]

a= 13√2 /2

a= 6.5√2

Hence, the side of a square is 65√2 cm

==================================================================

nikitasingh79: I had rationalize the denominator..
nikitasingh79: my answer is 13√2/2= 6.5 √2
Golda: But the formula is - side of the square = Diagonal/root 2
nikitasingh79: If we rationalise 13/√2 = 13√2/√2×√2= 13√2/2
Golda: And you have written 65 root 2 as your answer.
Golda: This way it is wrong
nikitasingh79: It was a typing mistake
Golda: Then correct it
nikitasingh79: I had written a= 6.5√2
nikitasingh79: in last line it was a typing mistake.

Answer:

=> The side of a square is 6.5\sqrt{2} cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:-

The diagonal of a square is 13cm,

To find:- The side of a square,

Assume 'a' be the sides square,

As we have,

Diagonal = 13cm

Therefore,

=>\sqrt{2}a=13

Shift \sqrt{2} on the other side and divide 13 by

=> a = \frac{13}{\sqrt{2} }

By further simplifying it we get,

=> a=\frac{13\sqrt{2} }{2}

=> a=6.5\sqrt{2}cm

Hence, the sides of a square is 6.5\sqrt{2} cm.
