if distance between the point (3m,am) and (4m,5m) is √10. Find value of 'a' ?

distance^2 = (x1-x2)^2 + (y1-y2)^2
10 = 1 + (a-5)^2
9 = (a-5)^2
a-5 = + 3 or -3
a= 8 or a = 2
10 = 1 + (a-5)^2
9 = (a-5)^2

why we can't take (x2-x1) ?
yeah we can take that also, you will get same answer because (x2 -x1)^2 = (x1-x2)^2
