Given

  • f(X) = X+a
  • it is a divisor

To find

The remainder

i) f(x) = x² - a²

ii) f(x)= 2x - a

Solution

From remainder theorem

X+a =0

=>X= -a

  1. f(X)= x² - a²

f(-a)= a - a²

=0

  • The remainder is 0

2).f(x)= 2x - a

f(-a) = -2a-3a

= -5a

  • The remainder be -5a

Hence, values are 0,-5a
