normal volume of cube of edge a =
 {a}^{3}
if edge is doubled then edge = 2a
then new volume =
 {(2a)}^{3}  \\  =  {8a}^{3}
now volume increased by
 \frac{8 {a}^{3} }{ {a}^{3} }  = 8
therefore volume increased by 8 times
