Hi there !!
Here's your answer
Let the original edge be x
Surface area of the original cube = 6x²
If the edge is doubled,
New edge = 2x
Surface area of the new cube = 6(2x)² = 6 × 4x²
= 24x²
Finding the ratio of the new surface area to the original surface area , we have,
= 4
Thus,
The surface area will increase 4 times

If x is the edge of cube then the surface area is 6x^2
If x is doubled = 2 × x = 2x
The surface are is 6(2x)^2
= 6 × 4x^2 = 24x^2
Compare the two terms
= 24x^2/6x^2 = 4
So the surface are will increase by 4 times
If x is doubled = 2 × x = 2x
The surface are is 6(2x)^2
= 6 × 4x^2 = 24x^2
Compare the two terms
= 24x^2/6x^2 = 4
So the surface are will increase by 4 times
