Sɑ of the cube = 6ɑ²

now if ɑ =  \frac{a}{2}

new SA = 6 (\frac{a}{2} )^{2}  = \frac{6}{4} {a}^{2}

Rɑtio of new/old =   \frac{\frac{6}{4}{a}^{2}}{6 {a}^{2} } =  \frac{1}{4}
