GiveN:

if each side of a cube is increased by 10%. what is the % increase in surface area of the cube?

Solution:

Suppose the side of the cube be 100.

Surface area of Cube = 6a²

Surface area of Cube before increament:-

=> 6a²

=> 6 × (100)²

=> 6 × 10000

=> 60,000 unit²

Surface area of Cube After increament of 10% :-

  • Side of cube is 100.

110% of cube:-

100 × 110/100 = 110 Unit

So again, New side of a cube is 110. Now the surface area of cube will be;

=> 6a²

=> 6 × 110 × 110

=> 6 × 12100

=> 72,600 Unit²

__________________________________

Increase in Surface area is 72600 - 60000 = 12600.

Increase % --

=> 12600/60000 × 100

=> 21 %

Hence,

The Surface area of the cube increased by 21%.
