If each side of a triangle is doubled ,then find the ratio of the area of new triangle thus formed to the area of the original triangle

Answer:

Let us assume that the triangle is an equilateral triangle

so, area of triangle with side 'a' = (√3/4)a^2...... eq(1)

so, similarly, area of new triangle with side 2a (as the sides are doubled)

=(√3/4) (2a) ^2

(√3/4) 4a^2......eq(2)

so ratio of triangle with respect to new triangle =(√3/4) 4a^2/(√3/4) a^2

=4:1

so, the ratio= 4:1
