if each side of equilateral triangle is 8cm then find altitude

In an equilateral triangle, altitude divides side equally.
Let ABC be a Δ, AD = Altitude
In right angle triangle ABD, AB² = AD² + BD²  [Pythagoras theorem]
We know that AB = 8 cm , BD = 8/2 = 4 cm
∴ AD² = 8² - 4² = 64 -16
AD = √48 cm
∴ Length of Altitude = 4√3 cm
