If earth rotation is 23 hrs and 56 mins then in a yaer we lose one day quora

Elementary it is, 23 hr 56min 4 sec is sidereal day and 24 hour is a solar day

Solar day is used for keeping time and sidereal day is used for astronomical calculations. This error is because earth is also rotating on it's axis while revolving around the sun ,so when a sidereal day completes , the earth has to rotate an extra of 59' for the solar  day to complete, hence the error.
