let edge be a
then surface area = 6a square
if edge get doubled then edge will be = 2a
then area will be 6 ×4a square
= 24 a2
divide 24 a2 / 6a2
= 4 times
so if edge of side is doubled then area will increase 4 times

let sides of cube is a

surface area of cube(A) = 6a² ...(1)

if sides double of cube

A' = 6(2a)²

A' = 4× (6a²)

from equation (1) we can write

A' = 4 A

we can see that new area increses four times .
