Egg haploid and 10pg, Cell diploid then 20pg, after S phase in G2 means after replication 40pg.

Answer:

Diploid cell of the same organism would contain 40 pg of DNA in G₂ phase of meiosis.

In a cell cycle, DNA is always synthesized in S phase irrespective of mitosis or meiosis. In addition, DNA (C) content of the cell doubles (2C) after the S phase however, number of chromosomes remains the same i.e. 2n.

Now, haploid DNA content (C/2) of the cell is given as 10 pg.

Hence, 20 pg must be the DNA content (C) of a normal diploid cell of the same organism.

Now, as we know DNA contents doubles after S phase, hence, the DNA content in G₂ phase would be 2C i.e. 2 x 20 pg which comes out to be 40 pg.
