Before we go to the answer a few points r to be considered.
1.thermoplastics are plastics which tend to lose its rigidity or soften when exposed to pretty good temperature.
2.when current passes through a conductor ..some energy is lost as heat.
So coming to the answer...
If switches are made with thermo plastic ...The heat involved is sufficient to melt or soften the plastic ,which would disfigure the switch thereby damaging it.

Usually electric switches are made up of thermo setting plastic...because thermoplastics are reactive to heat which means that they are also reactive to electricity .Thermo setting plastics are used to make electric switches but if we use thermoplastics..They may get damaged and also cause frequent short circuit and can even melt down...
