Given: Electro-negativity values of element X and Y are  3.8 and 1.8 respectively.

To find: Ionic percentage of  compound XY?

Solution:

  • Now we have given electro-negativity values of element X and Y are  3.8 and 1.8.
  • Now, the formula to calculate Ionic percentage is :

                  Ionic % = 16 x ΔEN + 3.5 x (ΔEN)²

  • Here ΔEN = (3.8 - 1.8) = 2

                  16(2) + 3.5(2)²

                  32 + 3.5(4)

                  32 + 14

                  46%

Answer:

So the ionic % of compound XY is 46%.
