If, emotions are purely cognitive states resulting from gathering information, does that make them unreal?

no... emotions always continue to b real...
they're your own thoughts, your own feelings, your own point of view coming together as emotions.

According to the scientific definition of the human emotions,emotions are purely cognitive states resulting from gathering information.

But this definition of the emotion doesn't make it unreal.Emotion does exist in our brain,it is an abstract substance which controls and manipulates our brain in different ways.But it has it's own existence.

In the present time due to the lack of scientific methods to analyse human brain,we are still not able to properly define human emotions.
