Answer:

What is the equivalent weight of the hydride of metal if the equivalent weight of its oxide is 20?

Get Birla White WallCare Putty in packs of 1kg, 5kg and 10kg!

Equivalent weight of Oxide of a metal = 20.

So for calculating Eq. Weight of hydride of metal we must know the eq. Weight of metal.

Now as we know that eq. Weight of Oxygen is 8.

Let the eq. Weight of metal be X.

Calculating equivalent weight of metal w.r.t Oxygen I.e.

X+8=20, we get X = 12.

Now eq weight of hydrogen = 1

Thus eq. Weight of Metal hydride = 12+1 = 13.

Hope it helps.
