Equivalent weight of s in so2=8... so 8 gms of s reacts with 8 gms of o... there are 2*16 = 32 gms

of o in so2 .

Hence, atomic mass of s =8* 32/8=32.

In so3 ,32gms of 2reacts with 3*16 =48gms of o.

Hence, equivalent mass of s is so3 =32/48*8=16/3gms

Also valency of s in so3 =6... so 32/6=16/3....
