Given:-

  • f(x) = -4x² + 3√2 x + 5

To find:-

  • f(√2) = ?

Answer:-

Given that, f(x) = -4x² + 3√2 x + 5, we have to find f(√2).

So, for solving this problem, we just have to substitute the value of x as √2, i.e, x = √2

So,

f(x) = -4x² + 3√2 x + 5

→ f(√2) = -4(√2)² + (3 * √2 * √2) + 5

→ f(√2) = -4(2) + (3 * 2) + 5

→ f(√2) = -8 + 6 + 5

→ f(√2) = -8 + 11

f(√2) = 3 Ans

Extra Knowledge:-

  • A polynomial is an algebraic expression consisting of constants and variables which are called terms. A polynomial in variable x is usually represented by p(x), f(x) or g(x)
  • The highest power of a term in a polynomial is called the degree of the polynomial.
  • On basis of degree polynomials can be classified as - linear (degree = 1), quadratic (degree = 2), cubic (degree = 3), quadratic/quartic (degree = 4) and quintic (degree = 5).
  • On basis of number of terms, polynomials can be classified as - monomial (no. of terms = 1), binomial (no. of terms = 2), and trinomial (no. of terms = 3).
