F(x)  = ax^2 + bx +2

F(1) means put 1 at the place of x

F(1) = a + b + 2  

3 = a + b +2

a + b = 1 ...........equation 1

F(4) means put 4 at the place of x

F(4) =16a + 4b + 2

42 = 16a + 4b +2

10 = 4a +1b  ..........equation 2

By solving equation 2 and 1 we get

a =3  and  b = -2
