If f(x) = tan x then the value of f''(0) = 0

Given :

f(x) = tan x

To find :

The value of f''(0) is

a. 0

b. 1

c. Infinite

d. none of these

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Write down the given function

Here the given function is f(x) = tan x

Step 2 of 3 :

Find f''(x)

f(x) = tan x

Differentiating both sides with respect to x we get

f'(x) = sec² x

Again Differentiating both sides with respect to x we get

f''(x) = 2 sec x tan x

Step 3 of 3 :

Find value of f''(0)

f''(x) = 2 sec x tan x

Putting x = 0 we get

f''(0) = 2 sec 0 tan 0

⇒ f''(0) = 2 × 1 × 0

⇒ f''(0) = 0

Hence the correct option is a. 0
