If f(x)=x²-2x+7, find x for which f(x)=f(x-1)+5​

HEY LEARNER ,

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER ,

f(x) = x^{2}-2x+7

In case of f(x-1) , substitute (x-1) in place of x in the given function.

f(x-1) = (x-1)^{2} - 2( x-1 ) + 7

        = x^{2} + 1 - 2x - 2x + 2 +7

        = x^{2} -4x + 10

From the question ,

f(x) = f(x-1) +5

x^{2} - 2x + 7 = x^{2} - 4x + 10 + 5

( x^{2} gets cancelled out )

-2x +4x = 15 -7

2x = 8

x = 8/2

x = 4
