Given:  f(x)=x^2-\frac{4}{x}-2, then f(x)=2

2=x^2-\frac{4}{x}-2\\

0=x^2-\frac{4}{x}-4

0=x^3-4-4x

Substituting x=2

x^3-4-4x=2^3-4-4(2)\\=8-4-8\\=-4

Substituting x=3

x^3-4-4x=3^3-4-4(3)\\=27-4-12\\=11

The roots of the x^3-4-4x=0 lie between 2 and 3.

CONCEPT

A polynomial is defined as an expression which consists of variables, constants and exponents, that are combined using the mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division . A polynomial is created from terms that are only added, subtracted or multiplied. A polynomial in x with real coefficients is of the shape ax² + bx + c, where a, b, c are real numbers with a ≠ 0. Degree – the best exponent of the variable within the polynomial is termed the degree of polynomial.

Given

f(x)=x²-4/x-2

f(x)=2

To find

f(x) is equal or not equal to 2

Step-by-step explanation:

(x^2 – 4 ) ÷ (x - 2) = 0

[ (× + 2)(× - 2) ] ÷ (x - 2) = 0

x + 2 = 0

X= -2

Hence, f(x) is not equal to 2
