Hello Mate,

Here is your answer,

  • Let sons age = 'x' years

As father is thrice the age of his son,

  • Father's age = '3x' years

Before 5 years,

  • Age of son = (x - 5) years

  • Age of father = (3x - 5) years

So as per the question, the fathers age was four times (quad) his sons age 5 years ago.

So,

  • (3x - 5) = 4(x - 5)

  • 3x - 5 = 4x - 20

  • 4x - 3x = 20 - 5

  • x = 15

So,

  • son's age = x = 15 years

  • Father's age = 3x

  • = 3 x 15

  • = 45 years

Hope it helps::
