Rubber band changes its shape under force and when the force is removed it regains it's shape. But if excessive force is applied it may break. solids can break but it is difficult to change their shape, so it is rigid. Also, until the force crosses its elastic limit, it returns back to original. But if not, then the rubber band stretches permanently and can't come back to original state which is known as plasticity.
