if force of gravity somehow vanished away, why would we be sent flying in space?

yes ! if the force of gravity vanished away we be sent in space because this is due to force of gravitation we stick to the earth and due to normal reaction we don't go inside the earth . But if force of gravitation removed there is no force to stick us on earth we will start float and then we will go in space if our velocity magnituenally equal to escape speed

Yes if force of gravity somehow vanished away we will fly in space. This is due to gravitational force. On earth only gravitational force is available. It is not available on any planet. Earth have gravitational force so it attract us towards it. If earth don't have gravitational force we can't walk on land and we fly in space. If on earth we jump from any building or any high place we will fall down because earth attracts us with the help of gravitational force. HOPE IT'S HELP U. ☺☺☺
