If from twice the greater of two numbers, 20 is subtracted, the result isthe other number. If from twice the smaller number, 5 is subtracted, the result is the greater number. Find the numbers

Let greater no. be X and smaller no. be y
then
2x-20=y -(¹)
and
2y-5=x -(²)
so putting the value of x from equation 2 we get
2(2y-5)-20=y
4y-10-20=y
3y=30
y=10
so y=10
and from quation 2
i.e. x=2y-5
x=2×10 -5
x =15
So the greater no. is 15 and smaller no. is 10.
